Mr. Vernon O. Gwinn, 83, of Hampton, died May 11, 2013 at home after long battle with COPD. He was born and raised in West Virginia and later moved the Virginia. After getting married, he moved to Georgia. For 29 years he worked at Stokes Auto Service, and later opened his own shop with his son in 1986, Gwinn’s Collision Center.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years Esther B. Gwinn; daughter Susan & Larry Little of Douglasville; son Mike & Jenny Gwinn of Hampton; grandchildren Andy and Jesse Little and Shelby and Mike Gwinn, Jr.; sisters Rosalie Jurrison, Gwendolyn Owen, and Shirley Downs, as well as several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Sherwood Memorial Gardens in Jonesboro. The family will go in procession from the funeral home. The family received friends Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.
