World Airways lays off most of its workforce

World Airways, headquartered in Peachtree City, has laid off most its workforce at the Peachtree City location.
The company has been beset with financial problems, having filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection twice in 2013.
According to a company spokesperson, World Airlines has flown its last flight. Global Aviation Holdings, Inc. is its parent company and parent company to North American Airlines. The spokesperson said roughly half the employees at Global Aviation were also let go.
The spokesperson said in the early afternoon on Thursday that further information about about the major reduction in force would be forthcoming shortly.
