Ronald Junior Whitlock, 62, of Riverdale, passed away on January 7, 2012 after a short battle with lung cancer.
He was born in Atlanta, Georgia and grew up in Fayette County, GA. He was the only child of Lela Opal Dorman Whitlock and Wilbur (Junior) Whitlock who both preceded him in death. He was a member of the Fayetteville United Methodist Church.
In 1962 he was a member of the first Little League baseball team formed in Fayette County and was selected for one of the first “all-star” teams. He loved baseball and as a young man had an extensive baseball car collection. He graduated from Fayette County High School in 1967.
He served in the United States Air Force from 1969 until 1973. He attained the rank of Sergeant and saw service in Indo-China in Electronic-Mechanical Technology. He was retired from the United States Postal Service. He is survived by several cousins.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, June 2, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Peachtree City, GA.
