Seven Lady Panthers and one member of the Starr's Mill boys varsity soccer team inked college scholarships Thursday, bringing the total number of county athletes to sign this week to 30.
Mandy McCalla (Ole Miss), Kaitlyn Stroud (Kansas), Katrina Frost (South Carolina), Lauren Swany (Davidson) and Victoria Hopkins (N.C. State) all signed with major Division I programs.
Kellie Davis (Shorter College) and Mackenzie Robbins (North Georgia) signed with smaller, in-state schools.
"[Starr's Mill alum and Stanford University All-American] Kelley O'Hara reminded me that the last time we had nine seniors and seven signing, we won the state championship," said Starr's Mill head coach Deanise Myers.
"The pressure is on. I have high expectations for this group for their senior year. Having seven players sign scholarships during signing week says great things about our program and these girls."
Josh Hughes, Coach Mike Hanie's sole signee, will play soccer for Berry College this fall. Editor's note: These pictures were cropped because of space constraints.
