By Pat Cooper

A 25 year-old Fayette County man was killed Sunday morning when vehicle overturned trapping him inside while his female passenger was ejected and seriously injured.

According to the Fayette County Sheriff's Department, Joseph Dobson was traveling along a rural dirt road, Mann Road, in the northwest section of the county, near the Fulton County line, when his Ford Expedition left the roadway, overturned and violently rolled multiple times. When deputies and medics arrived, they pronounced Dobson dead at the scene, determining he had died at the time of the accident. His passenger, Alejandrina Butler, 24, of Fairburn, was transported to the Atlanta Medical Center, where she is listed in critical condition.

Authorities believed the accident occurred at approximately 4 a.m., but was not discovered until the call came into the sheriff's office from the property owner nearly three hours later. Alcohol is believed to be the significant factor in the accident. The incident is still under investigation.
