Man shoots brother he thought was intruder



On May 4, 2014 Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a person shot call that
occurred on Sandy Lake Circle. The incident occurred after the resident of the home
mistakenly shot his brother during the night. The man that lives at the home had his
younger brother staying with him. Sometime during the night, the guest brother woke up
to use the restroom. The sleeping resident awoke to what he thought was an intruder. He
retrieved his pistol and shot his brother one time, the round entered and exited the
abdomen and grazed his arm. After shooting his brother, he realized what had happened
and drove the victim to the hospital. Detectives responded to the scene and the case is
currently under investigation. The victim is listed in stable condition and expected to be
released from the hospital early this week.
