Kids are getting an early break today as the Fayette County Board of Education opts to close schools 30 minutes early today and keep them closed tomorrow.
“Based on information we received this morning from the Fayette County Emergency Services and the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, we will release students 30 minutes early today, said Melinda Berry-Dreisbach, school system information officer.
School buses will begin transporting children home at the following times:
Elementary, 1:55 p.m.
Middle, 2:45 p.m.
High, 3:15 p.m.
Elementary students who attend the After School Program will remain at school until their parents can pick them up. Parents are encouraged to arrive at their children’s school as quickly as possible. Staff will be dismissed as soon as all students have left the school building. There will be no school tomorrow (Wednesday, January 29) for students or staff. Please stay tuned to your local news stations for information regarding closures for Thursday. Updates are also posted via our Facebook and Twitter pages.
