Seemingly routine traffic accident leads to major drug bust by Fayette County Sheriffs

Responding to a traffic accident, Fayette County investigators discovered over four pounds of marijuana and an assortment of other drugs and a weapon.
On Wednesday, January 8, traffic investigators responded to a three-car collision on Highway 314 in unincorporated Fayette County. It was quickly determined that there was a serious injury to Michael Lamar Clark, 20, of Fayetteville. Clark was transported to Atlanta Medical Center for treatment. When investigators inventoried the car before it was removed from the accident scene, they discovered 4.2 pounds of marijuana, 83 Xanax pills and a 9mm pistol.
Though still hospitalized at the medical center, Clark has been charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of Xanax with intent to distribute.
