A Peachtree City couple were arrested on elder abuse charges after police allege they pressured an elderly man to lease his home and proceeded to sell off various items from his home.
According to Lt. Mark Brown, Ericka Sambrone Porter, 51, and William Keith Porter, 55, contacted their victim several times at the assisted living facility where he currently lives regarding signing a lease for his residence on Hilltop Drive in Peachtree City.
The investigation was initiated after concerns about the possible exploitation were brought to police by neighbors, the Fayette County Probate Court and the assisted living facility itself.
Investigators developed probable cause that the couple convinced their victim to sign a lease which did not go into effect until March 2014. The Porters moved into the Hilltop house and began to sell various items from the residence.
The pair were charged with Exploitation and Intimidaton of a Disabled Elderly Person (Felony) and Burglary (Felony).
