On Friday morning, Nancy Price, manager of The Fred Amphitheater announced that the venue and the Lisa Kelly Voice Academy were joining forces to bring a special concert to Peachtree City.
The concert, scheduled for May 10, 2014, will feature former Celtic Woman, Lisa Kelly, along with special guests, as they bring a bit of Ireland to Peachtree City’s 2,500 seat outdoor Amphitheater.
Kelly is a multi-platinum selling recording artist, singer and actor and a founding member of Celtic Woman. She hails from Dublin, Ireland and has performed in some of the most prestigious venues, including Carnegie Hall and Radio City Music Hall in New York, O2 World Arenas Europe, Orchard Hall Tokyo, Sydney Entertainment Center, The Greek Theater LA,Theater LA, Wolf Trap Amphitheater VA, The Fox & Orpheum Theatre Series and Red Rocks Amphitheater CO,
“We’re always looking to find diversity in the kind of things we offer at The Fred,” said Price. “This is going to be the opening of our season. We have Lisa right here in town and we need to claim her. She’s ours. Fayetteville may have the Southern Ground Amphitheater and Zac Brown, but we have The Fred and Lisa Kelly. They are two distinct markets.
“What better place to showcase her than The Fred? So we’re going to co-present a concert there.”
Kelly and her husband, Australian dancer Scott Porter who is also her producer and partner in the Academy, are both looking forward to the concert and the opportunity to showcase in a more intimate venue.
“We always talked about doing our own concert but with the academy and the move here, we didn’t have time. We’d been getting multiple offers in the door for Lisa to come in and be a special guest in local and international concerts. We always want to be as supportive as we can to the local community.”
He said Kelly remembered a conversation she’d had with Price several months before “because we always said if we were ever going to do anything local, it would have to be at The Fred. We’d seen the other venues around here and nothing really stacks up to what we’re used to.”
Porter said they had known of The Fred, had driven past it, used other facilities nearby it, but hadn’t yet seen it.
“I met with Nancy and she brought me down there, you could feel how beautiful it could be, so the juices started flowing.”
Porter said the show is going to be ‘pretty straightforward,” and called The Voice of Ireland.
“We’ll have a string section and piano,” he added, “very intimate. And one or two ‘very special’ guests, which we’re not releasing at the moment. There will also be Irish dancing and anything that really speaks of Ireland. It’s very much representing the Ireland of today. A mix of traditions and, more importantly, where Ireland is today.”

Alongside her work with Celtic Woman, Lisa has recorded many songs and compositions for TV campaigns, TV series and blockbuster feature film soundtracks. Some highlights to date would be, performing and recording the title song for Disney’s: Tinkerbell and the Lost Treasure, as well as for the Japanese epic film Princess Toyotomi and putting that signature Celtic twist on a classic song, Beyond the Sea for Panasonic Groups LED LCD TV sales campaign.
Kelly and Porter opened the Lisa Kelly Voice Academy in Peachtree City in February. The couple wanted to establish a non-competitive and confidence building environment for budding vocalists and performers to thrive in, and ultimately and simply, learn how to master the art of singing a song. So far, this has been the highlight of Lisa’s distinguished and varied career. Being able to share their love of the theatre and the discipline of the stage, has been something she has always wanted to do and they seem to have found the perfect place to do it in Fayette County, Georgia, USA.
Prior to Celtic Woman Lisa starred in Riverdance-The Show as the lead female vocalist and toured the world for over 4 years. During this time Lisa even managed to record her own Irish CD entitled “Lisa”, which topped the Billboard World Music Charts for multiple weeks.
