Veterans Day events set around the county, schools

This year’s observance of Veterans’ Day will be busy around Fayette County.
In Peachtree City, the annual Veterans Day observervance will be held in conjunction with the Confederate Air Force’s Open House on Saturday, November 9.
Veterans of the Viet Nam War will be recognized at Peachtree City’s 2013 Veterans Day Observance, hosted by the Commemorative Air Force (CAF) Dixie Wing.  The program will be held during the CAF’s third annual Veterans Day Open House, 9 a.m. to noon, at the CAF Hanger at Atlanta Regional Airport – Falcon Field.  The open house and program is free to the public.
In Fayetteville, the fourth annual Veteran’s Day Program, “Saluting our Veterans” will be held November 11 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m at Fayette Senior Services, 4 Center Drive.
The program will kick off with music provided by Peach Pickers, before segueing into a welcome from Morgan Smith, the Activities Director for Fayette Senior Serivces.
Ron Stubbs, Commander of VFW Post 3650, will play master of ceremonies. The Fayette County High School ROTC will post the colors, with Stubbs leading the Pledge and Alison Chambers singing the national anthem and will be followed by a recognition veterans with a series of service songs.
Also on the program veterans from WWII, Korea and Vietnam will be recognized as well as Gulf War and Desert Storm Veterans. There will be Flag Certificates presentated to three Fayetteville businesses and a raffle drawing for veterans.
Refreshments will be provided by Bobbie Dickerson and Fayette Senior Services.
