According to Dr. Jim Pennington, Peachtree City’s manager, Coweta County, utilizing $100,000 in funding from an Atlanta Regional Commission grant, is looking at constructing golf cart paths in Senoia with an eye to connecting those paths to Peachtree City’s own system.
The path, which would run along Rockaway Road, and pass under Georgia Highway 74, to touch the southern side of the city’s path system.
The ARC-financed Transportation Alternative grant for an engineering study would take a path from Senoia one mile to Line Creek. Senoia is still working on finding the matching $20,000 in funding.
Pennington noted the original discussion about cart path programs happened about a year ago.
“We’ll see how that goes. I hope as a council and a city we’ll support that. It’s a great connection for the community.”
Additionally, he noted, Fayette County has received word it has won a grant to start on the second phase of the planned golf cart path that would move along Redwine Road, only a small portion of which would be in the city.
