 A 58 year-old Peachtree City man was arrested on March 5 on an outstanding warrant from Marion County, Florida on charges of using the internet to lure a child.
According to the Marion County authorities, on August 7, the department was conducting an undercover investigation on internet chat sites to identify people using the internet to sexually abuse children. One investigator, posing as the father of an eight year old boy and a six year old girl, was contacted by a writer in a private chat room identifying himself as “CorruptedGA” and, after some discussion, asking the investigator for nude pictures of the children and if he was interested in a sexual encounter with them. CorruptedGA allegedly asked to teach them various sexual positions, as well as perform oral sex on them. He gave the undercover investigator his email address to forward the children’s photos.
Investigators were able to capture the IP address and the sheriff’s office subpoenaed the cable company that was being used as the internet provider and was able to obtain the records which belonged to Ronald Francis Bauer at 207 Crown Point.
On August 7, Bauer again allegedly tried to get nude photos. In the ongoing correspondence on August 10, between Bauer and the investigator, Bauer allegedly attempted to reassure that he was not an officer and was looking for similar assurances.
“...we all have so much to lose, I have to assume that this is a trap. I have no choice.”
However, on August 11 Bauer allegedly sent another email saying “I’d rather not walk away from this altogether” and asking to get to know him better.
According to the incident report, “from the two emails, the subject continues to ask for nude pictures of the children to solidify my existence.” When the detective refused to send the photos, Bauer broke contact.
“Based on the content of the chats and the subject’s emails, it is clear he attempted to solicit or entice a parent to allow him to enage in sexual activities with what the subject believed to be two children, ages six and eight.
A warrant for Bauer’s arrest was issued in Marion County on March 5 on charges of Use of Internet to ure Child, and asked for extradition to Florida.
Peachtree City police arrested Bauer on March 6 and he was extradited to Florida after spending a day at the Fayette County Jail. According to records, Bauer’s bail in Florida was set at $10,000. |
