PTC police face off with armed man

For the second time in a week, the Peachtree City Police Department found itself in an armed stand off with an armed man.
At about 7 a.m. on Sunday morning, Peachtree City police received a report than a Peachtree City man had struck someone several times while the two were inside their residence at 231 Flat Creek Court.
When the victim attempted to leave and call 911, police allege that Eric Stephen King, 33, stopped her and her attempts to complete the phone call.
According to Lt. Mark Brown, the department’s public information officer, King pointed a pistol at the woman, threatening to kill her. They also discovered that King was in possession of an assault rifle, shotgun, multiple handguns and a significant amount of ammunition.
The department called in its Special Response Team while the surrounding neighborhood and advise residents to temporarily leave the area. After ensuring the safety of the neighborhood, Brown said negotiators were able to talk King into surrendering without further incident at approximately 3:30 pm.
King was charged with Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Crime (Felony), False Imprisonment (Felony), Battery (Family Violence), Obstruction of a 911 Call, and Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon (Felony).
