A Peachtree City house fire claimed the life of an as yet unidentified male.
According to police, at approximately 5:20am Dec. 23, police officers and fire department personnel responded to a residential fire at 104 Adams Fall as a result of a 911 call from a neighbor. When they arrived, the found the residence engulfed in flames and discovered the sole known occupant of the house was unaccounted.
After the fire was brought under control by the Peachtree City Fire Department, a preliminary search of the residence revealed a person who was deceased. The identity of the person deceased is pending an autopsy by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time and is still under investigation. A joint death investigation is underway by the Peachtree City Criminal Investigation’s Division, Peachtree City Fire Marshall’s Office, the State Fire Marshall’s Office, and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
Though no formal identification has been made, the victim’s aunt identified the man as Steven Russell, recently divorced and the father of two teens, 14 and 16.
