2012-10-30

By Pat Cooper

Local authorities are asking the community to be on the lookout for a dangerous man in a stolen car.
On Monday afternoon, the Fayette County Communications Center aired a lookout to Peachtree City Police in reference to the stolen vehicle.
The stolen vehicle was described as a white in color Chevrolet Malibu that was taken from Quick Trip in Fayetteville. Shortly thereafter, officers located a vehicle matching the description at Hwy 74 and Holly Grove Road. The tag on the vehicle was also reported stolen out of another jurisdiction. As officers attempted to make contact, the vehicle fled northbound on Hwy 74. Upon reaching the area around the FAA on Hwy 74 the male suspect pulled into the southbound lanes of Hwy 74 and continued northbound for approximately and eighth of a mile.
The man then abandoned the vehicle and fled into the wood line. The Hwy 74 Baseball/Soccer complex was evacuated during the search. A perimeter was immediately established by the Peachtree City Police Department and the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department, as well as our K-9 tracking team.
After a lengthy search the offender could not be located.
The suspect was identified as Tony Perry, 36, white male, 6’0”, 230 lbs, last scene wearing a black shirt and black pants. Perry is wanted out of several jurisdictions, including Coweta, Henry, Clayton, and Fayette counties, as well as Peachtree City for numerous felony charges, including Obstruction of a Law Enforcement Officer, Theft by Taking Motor Vehicle, and Fleeing and Attempting to Elude. Perry is considered to be dangerous.
If anyone has information that would assist the Police Department in this or any other incidents, please contact the Criminal Investigations Division at 770-631-2510 or the Crime and Narcotics Information Hotline, (770) 487-6010.
