Henry L. Tibbetts, 85, of Fayetteville, passed away on Saturday, September 15, 2012.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. During his professional career he worked for Nabisco for 9 years, Atlanta Federal Penitentiary for 24 years, and Georgia Regional Hospital for 16 years. He loved working with the flowers in his yard and garden and he was very generous.
He was preceded in death by his parents Noah J. and Mamie Tibbetts; brothers Frank Tibbetts, Bennie Tibbetts, and Noah J. Tibbetts, Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Bertha Tibbetts of Fayetteville; daughters Mary “LaVerne” Travis and her husband John of Fayetteville, and Judy Gibby and her husband Donald of Riverdale; grandchildren John Jay Travis and his wife Julie of Woodstock, and Paul Travis of Atlanta; great-grandchild Jack Travis of Woodstock; brothers Boyd Tibbetts and his wife Gerri of Dallas, GA, Douglas Tibbetts of Hampton; sister Lanette Coalson and family of Albany; sister-in-law Jackie Landers of Fayetteville.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville, with Dr. Bill Scarbrough officiating. The burial will follow at College Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 3:00 to 5:00 PM and on Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
